Lodging Civil Partnership Notice Forms
You should lodge with the Registration Service in the local authority area where the ceremony, or registration without ceremony, is to take place.
Notice forms for all Edinburgh district civil partnerships are processed at the City Chambers office.
You must lodge the necessary notice forms and supporting documents 6-8 weeks before the date of your civil partnership.
If you are subject to immigration control, the Home Office have the authority to increase the statutory notice period to 71 days in certain circumstances. You should give 11-12 weeks notice if this may apply.
You cannot lodge your notice forms more than 3 months before the date of your registration.
Your appointment confirmation email will give you more information about the documents required at the appointment and a link to the relevant forms.
The fee for lodging your notice paperwork is £100;
Religious or belief system (such as Humanist) civil partnerships - Payment for the lodging of your forms is required as part of this booking process.
Civil partnerships with a ceremony officiated by a registrar - Payment for notice lodging is included in your cermony booking fee.
Civil partnerships without ceremony, known as the "administrative route", can be arranged by emailing marriageandcp@edinburgh.gov.uk. Payment will be requested once an arrangement is in place.
